9/18-9/22/17- Baylor was really not feeling well by the time we got home from the lake. He had a hard time sleeping and was up by 6AM on Monday. He woke up coughing so hard I thought he might throw up. He was crying and was saying “Baylor not feel well. Baylor is sick!” Poor little guy. So I steamed up my bathroom and we sat in that for a while, which helped a lot. I texted Ms Jessica and let her know we wouldn’t be at school, then we flopped on the couch and spent the day watching Daniel Tiger and I streamed some of his favorite YouTube videos to the TV. He started feeling better by the afternoon and requested I play some music “like Papa Bear’s banjo” so I put on some different bluegrass music. He particularly took to “Wait for the Wagon” and LOVED the clogging at the end of the video. So he hopped up and started clogging on our hardwood floor. He must have watched it 10 times or more. Now he asks me “Mommy, come do clogging with me!” And I fortunately have gotten several super cute videos of that happening.
On Tuesday he was only coughing a few times and hour and had mastered the art of covering his cough, so I let him go to gymnastics. He usually goes on Thursdays but this Thursday he has a program to attend at his school so we switched classes for the week. He got to be in with the “big” 3 year old class. I wasn’t sure how it would go since it wasn’t Mr. Troy (whose rock star status has not diminished in the least) and they work on slightly more advanced skills. But he did great! And he really enjoyed it, which is really good news because it’s likely that Ms. Megan will be the teacher for his birthday party.
On Thursday, Baylor and I attended the International Day of Peace celebration at his school. The big kids taught us the song “Light a Candle for Peace” and they harmonized with us and signed. It wasn’t long but it was really a sweet and poignant ceremony. After it was over, we got his hair cut and went to Chick fil A for lunch. We were supposed to have a play date at Chick fil A but they had to cancel at the last minute because my friend got shingles and didn’t want to pass it along. But I had already told Baylor and he’d been talking about it all day, so we just had a Mommy Baylor date instead.
On Friday, Michael and I went on a date for my birthday. We went to dinner at Donatello’s- an Italian restaurant in Carmel- and went to see “Mother!” It was much more a film than a movie and definitely not a feel-good movie, but it prompted some good discussion. We found a wonderful babysitter named Casey. She is in her early-mid twenties and works at the Children’s Museum. She was WONDERFUL with Baylor and won him over very quickly. He didn’t bat an eye when we left and she had him in bed before we’d been gone a full hour, which is crazy. She said he did everything she asked him to do without any problem and asked us to call her anytime, so it seems like a great match!!
And yes, I caught him taking selfies on my computer. He had no idea I was standing there when I took that picture. He cracks me up. He just has the best, sweetest, funniest personality. I like him a whole lot. Not just love. Like, I really genuinely enjoy spending time with him.
