8/7-8/13/17- We’re diving deep trying to make friends and get a social life established here. Fortunately we’ve found several good places to do that. This week we went to the zoo with the Scrubmates Playgroup, had 3 play dates, and went to Story Time at the Library. We’ve started attending church at St. Luke’s United Methodist. Baylor really enjoys playing in the 2 year old nursery there while we are in church. I have also signed up for a Disciple class on Wednesday evenings and a small group on Tuesday mornings that I’m excited to start.
We also had Baylor’s 2.5 year old doctors appointment with his new pediatrician, who we really liked. Baylor has actually bumped up a couple of percentiles on the weight and height chart and is now sitting just under 15 for weight and just over for height. He weighs just over 28 pounds and is around 35 inches tall. We had his physical therapy evaluation, which unfortunately did not go nearly as well. We found that the place, which had come very highly recommended, was not using best practices in their approach to the point that I was uncomfortable putting Baylor in their care. So we have decided instead to continue what we’ve been doing at home with him and enrolling him in gymnastics instead to build his core strength. I also think that having him in preschool where he’ll be running and keeping up with other kids will work on some of these skills. We’ll re-evaluate in a couple of months to make sure that we’ve made the right decision, but either way, I feel confident that taking him out of therapy at that particular center was absolutely the right decision.
