8/21-8/28/17- Nona and Papa came to help me put together the last of our house!!!! So finally- all curtains and 95% of pictures are hung (only the ones I haven’t bought yet are left.). The office is no longer a wasteland of Rubbermaids but looks like an actual room with real furniture. I have a gallery wall going up our steps, a foyer that looks inviting, and a new desk and bookshelves that allow proper organization. Whew! And with that, our house has very quickly started feeling like home.
We are gearing up for the start of school. Baylor and I attended a back to school picnic on Thursday and then his teachers came to visit our (very newly put together) house on Monday. In a few days, we will attend his orientation and then next week he starts school for real! The time is flying by!
Very quickly, a few of Baylor’s favorite things at the moment:
Songs- Daisy Daisy, Pop Goes the Weasel, My Old Kentucky, I’m in the Lord’s Army (he calls it the ‘Yessir Yessir’ song), Behold Behold (which he calls the click click click, knock knock knock song)
Things to do-
Play hide and seek
Play grocery store (we take turns being the “shopkeeper”
“Pluses”- he wants us to give him “+1” math problems and then he wants to give us since digit addition problems to solve
Playing “Mommy and Baylor” where he’s Mommy and I’m Baylor. He puts me to bed, makes me oatmeal for breakfast, watches Peppa Pig with me, reads me books, and makes me take a nap. This is probably my favorite game to play because it requires a lot of laying down in his bed hahaha.
Tv- Peppa Pig, Daniel Tiger, Leap Frog, The Wiggles, Paw Patrol
Books- I Spy, Daniel Tiger, Counting on Frank, pretty much anything from the “many books” pile (which is basically anything that has been a favorites up until now- Llama Llama, Jesse Bear, etc)
Cute Baylor quotes:
“You love ____ don’t you?”
“Mommy and Baylor are best friends”
“Cold tea”=sweet tea
He’s started quoting tv:
-Are we there yet? Are we? Are we?
-Mommy, you’re a clever clogs
-Pedro’s cough re-enactment
-“Naughty mummy! You moved Baylor’s toys!”
“That will be ten pounds” (when playing grocery store. Peppa Pig is turning my kid British.
“That’s too scary for me!” (generally referring to anything to do with Halloween)
(Any time we go into a store) “No fanks! I don’t wike Halloween stuff.”
“What are you doing with those funny words?” (Means “I don’t understand what you’re saying”)
“I much feel better.”
“Is _______ real?”
“Mama, I scared of the Nearth (Earth). (Why?) It’s so wittle.”
“I keep you safe from all the Nearth (Earth), Mommy.”
Me: “Do you want to pretend ______?” Baylor: “No fanks, I just stay Bay-yer.” (Halloween is going to be a struggle this year)
He’s picking up new math facts at lightning speed.
Starting to explore subtraction as a concept using “take away”- especially when playing grocery store
He’s memorized my entire phone number including area code
He can open the car door (in case of emergency)
He’s starting to sound out words to spell them (vs reading them)
