5/27/17- WEDDING DAY!!!!!! I thought it would never get here!! I’m sure I was extremely excited for my own wedding, but I’m not sure I could have been any more excited than I was for Whitney’s! She and Mom have put in so much time and hard work into this wedding and I’ve just loved everything they’ve chosen. I’ve been so excited to see her vision finally come together and for Jake to finally become an “official” member of the Reid fam.
The wedding was just perfect. The weather wasn’t great, unfortunately, though the rain did hold off long enough for the ceremony and pictures thank goodness!! But the wedding itself… incredible. Whitney had set up her own little outdoor chapel on the porch and it just could not have been more gorgeous. The pews, the flowers, the scenery- perfect. Whitney and Jake wrote their own vows, which made not ugly crying during her wedding even harder than I was anticipating. Their vows just made the ceremony so much more meaningful than it even is ordinarily.
We ran around like crazy people for the next hour trying to get all of our pictures made. Then the reception began! Another round of amazing food, I attempted public speaking, they cut the cake, and then dancing!!!! The dance floor was so lit up nobody even cared it was raining outside. And of course we made the rounds to see friends we haven’t gotten to see in way too long, which is always fun.
Oh! And we did the Aggie War Hymn which I’ve always wanted to do and couldn’t because, you know, I’m not an Aggie. What a fun tradition!! We sang the Auburn fight song too, but I’m afraid we were a little upstaged.
My only real disappointment in the wedding is that I didn’t get a slice of lemon cake. Again. Sigh.
But seriously, I left that night so happy with how it had all turned out. I think Whit was pretty happy too. It all flies by so fast- it did for me and I wasn’t even the bride!! It was such a fun night in such a beautiful setting. I feel all nostalgic just thinking about it. I’m so glad that Whitney was so thoughtful to include me and let me be such a close part of the planning and really, the whole week/day of the wedding. It was so special to me to get to see her shine on her big day and really just to see her be so happy.
Baylor did great with his part of the ceremony- carrying the pillow in. He handed it right to Michael and sat quietly for the entire ceremony. He attended the reception from afar. We got a babysitter and let him stay with her in a smaller, quieter room. Baylor isn’t a big fan of loud noises right now, so even though we tried to get him to come dance with us, he was much happier playing in a quieter place. He crashed hard just moments after getting back to the hotel. He loved seeing Nene in her white dress!!
