3/7-3/8/17- Friday was Whitney’s ring ceremony. At Texas A&M, getting your class ring is a very big deal. So we went to watch Whit get hers. Jake presented it to her, which was very reminiscent of a certain other ring ceremony that was held at Camp Barnabas last July 😀 Baylor learned a very important phrase- “gig em!” and learned to put his thumb up. Except it comes out more like “dig em!” He uses it in the context of “cool!” And he’s very insistent about getting a reply “gig em” back from you. Hahahaha it’s really cute. I’m going to have to watch Jake or he’ll turn my kid into an Aggie instead of a Tiger.
Back home at the ranch, Michael was touring two potential houses for us to see if either of them would be a good match for us. One of them was exactly what we’d been looking for, so he called me to go over details and we put in an offer that afternoon. That evening, we found out that we got the house!! Now I wish I could go back to Magnolia!
That night, in a very odd Texas A&M tradition, Whitney had her ring dunk with several of her nursing school friends. A ring dunk is where they dunk their class ring into a pitcher of beer and then chug the beer to retrieve it. It’s enough to make you really really glad you didn’t go to Texas A&M. But Whit was a champ and she guzzled that thing right down. Gross. But she’s officially an Aggie now, so go Whit!
The next morning we went to breakfast with “Jake and Nene in Texas.” Poor Nona got stuck with a sleeping Baylor. He’s been so excited on this trip- he’s been going to bed late and waking up early and today he just crashed. He couldn’t keep his eyes open for even 30 seconds after Nene and Jake walked in the door. Fortunately, he woke up in time to go see their new apartment. And boy, was he impressed! He loved having such a big space with no furniture and I’m pretty sure he would have dived right into their pool and gone for a swim if we’d let him. I was impressed too! They’ve got a nice big kitchen with granite countertops that opens into the living room and a Master bedroom big enough for a king bed! And outside it feels like you’re at a resort. It’ll great place to start married life for them I think. I’m so excited for everything that’s in store for them over the next few months!
That afternoon, we started the long drive back to Little Rock and got there just in time for dinner and bed.
