2/17/17- Baylor and I had a very long, very fun day! We woke up early and drove to Indianapolis. I had loaded down my car with some stuff we wanted to go ahead and get out of the house, so we stopped at a storage unit just south of Indy and opened a unit and unloaded the car. Then we hopped back in and raced up to the north side of town to meet with Baylor’s preschool teachers for next year. We had never met them since they were having an in-service day the day we toured the school back in October.
I couldn’t have been more impressed! His teacher will be Mrs. Cholpon and his assistant will be Mrs. Jessica. Mrs. Cholpon watched and interacted with Baylor for about 5 minutes and her observations about him were so insightful and so on point. She talked to me about how she could support his weaknesses and challenge him in his strengths at the same time. I’m so excited for him to start her class. I think she is going to be able to provide an amazing introduction to school for him.
Then Baylor took a nap while I drove around to a few houses I’d had my eye on to look at the neighborhoods. Tressie called just as Baylor was waking up to say that she was in Indy so we headed over to meet her at Moe and Johnny’s for lunch. We had a great time chatting and eating, then took a short walk around the neighborhood before taking off to see Daniel Tiger Live!
Baylor was so excited. He wasn’t sure what was going on before the show started, but he definitely understood that it had something to do with Daniel Tiger. As soon as the show started, he was totally mesmerized. He was singing along, clapping, and chatting away to me about what was happening in the story. He was having such a good time that he cried during intermission and when the show was over, saying “Daniel be back!”
As we packed up to leave and I was changing him into jammies, he took his Daniel Tiger doll and waved its hand and said “Bye bye Meela!” It was wonderful to watch him enjoy something so much.
We spent the night with Ashley Butler and met with a realtor the next morning before heading back home. It was a whirlwind trip and we sure are tired, but it was totally worth it!
