12/1/16- We spent equal parts playing and cleaning today. Baylor is a very motivated helper these days and really likes being a part of getting things done. He’s been putting away dishes for a good while now and he dusts the low things for me. He’s great about cleaning up his own spills. Now recently, he’s taken an interest in the broom and helps me sweep. Papa taught him how over Thanksgiving and he’s come running over to help when I get out the broom ever since.
Baylor has decided that the ultimate luxury is eating apples and peanut butter while watching the Just Dance video game on the Wii. He doesn’t always dance to it but he likes watching it as if it were a TV show. He asked for a snack the other day and I gave him apples and peanut butter and now he seems to think that’s the only snack you should have in the playroom. Nor should you eat that snack in any other room. He’s been extremely clear on this point. Also, Baylor has finally decided that his Thomas roller coaster is just the best thing ever. He’s gone through phases before where he has gone down it a few times and liked it. But lately he’s really been into it. Up and down again and again. He likes putting Thomas back on his track as well as he likes going down. And it’s not just the roller coaster he likes- he issues it as a ball rolling lane and the world’s slowest slide too. He has started asking is to play so he’ll say “play” and point to what he wants to play. Or occasionally he’ll say “play” and I’ll say “what you want to play, buddy?” and he’ll say “ball” or “tars” (he means car- specifically the take apart one). He’s also started saying “sure” instead of “yes.” So when I say “oh, you want to play cars!” he'lk say “sure!” like it was my idea in the first place. When he gets done playing something or gets to a stopping place and needs to think he’ll say “OK, Next!” I’m not sure where he got that phrase but it’s really cute.
