11/1-11/3/16- Baylor and I have been feeling a little under the weather, so we’ve been talking it easy the last few days. Nothing big, just allergies, but it’s enough to feel kind of yucky. We’ve been working hard on his new count to 20 puzzle. He’s got to 12 down pat, but it’s hard to pronounce all those “teen” numbers even though I think he knows what they are.
Couple of cute things I want to mention that have been going on around here lately that I don’t want to forget.
1) Stair books- for the last few months (it started the week I left to go to Missouri to see Jake & Whit get engaged), Baylor has declared a few specific books stair books, meaning the only place they can been read is sitting on the bottom stair. This is because Daddy read to him one time on the stairs while I was gone and a tradition was born. The two main stairs books are his Tractor book and the Sesame Street truck book, but there have been a few others rotate in and out. He loves these books, but all hell breaks loose if you dare read them in a non-stair location. The stair is also where many phone calls happen. If he’s ever taken off with you on the phone, this is most likely where he took you. This picture is him talking to NeNe on Halloween. Proof that he looks much happier than he sounds when he’s talking to y'all.
2) Tapping his chin when he’s thinking. This started because I did it one time in the grocery store when I was trying to remember the last item on my list. Now, he taps his chin any time he’s thinking: if he’s asked to make a choice, if he’s set down his milk cup somewhere and can’t find it, if he’s trying to remember something… All involve intense chin tapping.
3) Singing gets us through the day. We have songs for just about everything we do during the day. He knows them and sings along and it makes our routine much easier if we transition with a song. One of our favorites right now is the breakfast time song. I have to admit, I steal most of my songs, and this one is no exception. It’s from Daniel Tiger. But it’s so catchy and Baylor loves it! Breakfast time cha cha cha, breakfast time cha cha cha, I like to eat oatmeal with blueberries, so yummy in my tummy….. Breakfast time!!!!
4. Tonight he brought me his bucket from Halloween and asked to go trick or treating. Who am I to say no to that kind of adorable? So I gathered some treats, hid behind the door to the basement, and waited for his knock. He was happy as little lark with his pretend trick or treating and it was so cute!!!!
